A Pink Trikke for My Best Girl

My best friends and I have known each other since we were in the first grade. Two of them married after we graduated from college and they had a little girl almost five years ago. She was a “surprise” because they hadn’t planned to have children but we’re all very glad she’s here, and she tells everyone I’m her “Uncle Daddy.”

She still hadn’t seen my trikke but I trikked over to their place tonight and she acted like I pulled up in Santa’s sleigh. Now I know what it means when someone says “her eyes were wide as saucers.”

It was the cutest thing I’d ever seen and her parents and I couldn’t stop laughing as she jumped all over it (I was holding the handlebars) and begged me for a ride. She didn’t have a helmet and a trikke isn’t really safe for giving little kids a ride but finally I climbed aboard and let her stand in front of me and hold onto the middle of the handlebars.

I held onto her and her mom and dad each grabbed a grip and we did a slow carve up and down the street in front of their house. Several times. She cried when they told her it was time to get off the trikke and start getting ready for bed and she never does that (she could very easily be a spoiled brat but she’s a sweetheart and very mature for her age).

She doesn’t know it but Uncle Daddy talked to her parents then came home and bought her this pink T5WS and a pink helmet to go with it. Her birthday is July 1st and that’s my gift to her this year. Mom and Dad are going to buy their own trikkes and they’ll also arrive on July 1st so it can be a family affair. Dad’s going for the T12 Roadster and Mom’s getting a T8 Air. My work here is done.

Very cute post! I really enjoyed reading about your trikkes and it was so sweet to get one for your friends’ daughter. Did she like it? Any way I bookmarked your blog and I hope you will tell us how she is doing on her little pink trikke!

I thought trikkes are only for adults but my daughter would love this little trikke. I think we would have a good time trikking together and it looks like great exercise. How did the little girl like her new trikke? Was it hard for her to learn?

  3. Trikke is no trick. It puts fun in people power. In the past I’ve written about other people powered vehicles such as the velomobile and even the electric assisted bicycle. To some this may not be news especially if you’ve seen Trikkes on the boardwalks near the beaches in California. But, if you’re trying to go a little greener and get a little more exercise then Trikke is definitely the way to go.

How did the trikking go for this little girl? I’ve been tempted to get trikkes for me and my kids but it’s a huge expense if they wind up sitting in the garage.

I live in Miami and have to put away my bike from about May until late October. Did you do as much trikking as you thought you would this summer?

  6. Carol Larkin says:

I never even heard of trikkes before reading your blog! I wish they had more dealers so I could try one first. I’m scared to spend that much money on something maybe I’ll never use. I really enjoyed reading about your experience!

That little pink trikke is so cute! I hope she liked it.

  8. Think Pink says:

I looked but they don’t have pink trikkes for big girls. Too bad! I would probably buy one. I already have the perfect matching outfits and shoes. lol

  9. Pamela Godwin says:

Adorable! I wish you were my “uncle.” She’s a very lucky little girl.

I think I will get one of these for my niece for Christmas this year. Thanks for the idea! If I do I will buy it from your friends. I think its great that you support animal rescue.

This trikke is too cute. I love pink!

  13. Miss Cherry says:

This trikke is definately a good gift idea for kids. I will suggest this to the parents of my students because they need to get outside more and get exercise. Trikking looks like fun and they might put down their video games for something like this. I wish I could buy one but I will have to look at yard sales and cross my fingers because no way can I afford a new one on my salary. I really like your blog but now I am embarrassed to admit I found you when I was looking for Belgium chocolate! hahaha

I think this trikke is the cutest thing I have seen in a very long time and I don’t usually like pink. What a great idea for kids!
